Jointed Reinforced Concrete Pavement (JRCP)

Jointed Reinforced Concrete Pavement (JRCP) is designed for medium to high-traffic volume roads. It combines contraction joints with steel reinforcement, creating a stronger and more durable pavement than JPCP.

Key Characteristics:

  • Longer Slabs with Controlled Cracking: Utilizes longer concrete slabs (up to 50 ft) with controlled cracking, reinforced with steel mesh or bars.
  • Reinforced for Strength: Steel reinforcement distributes traffic loads evenly, reducing stress and the potential for uncontrolled cracking.
  • Load Transfer Devices: Incorporates dowel bars and tie bars at joints for proper load transfer.

Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP)

Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) is ideal for heavily trafficked roads, industrial areas, ports, and airports. Unlike traditional concrete pavements with joints, CRCP uses continuous steel reinforcement throughout the slab.
